Introduction

Today I’m going to be reviewing the Daiwa Ballistic LT spinning reel.

The Daiwa Ballistic is a great spinning reel highly rated by anglers all over the USA, with a new smaller frame, body, and housing this reel is sure to please.

Anglers have expressed how light but tough the Daiwa Ballistic LT is, and anglers will be able to fish in confidence due to the sound manufacturing of this reel.

This reel is specifically designed to be light and from the reports coming in, it does indeed feel very light and weighs just 1 pound.

At first glance it appears the Daiwa Ballistic LT is a long casting and remarkably smooth reel, this is probably down to the fact Daiwa employs a 7 bearing system with this Ballistic LT.

Daiwa’s aim with the Ballistic LT was to create a modern spinning reel that was smaller and lighter yet stronger than before, and it certainly looks like they have achieved that with this pretty amazing reel.

So, let’s delve deeper into the Daiwa Ballistic LT and see what we can find out.

Pros

  • 7-Bearing System
  • Only Weighs 1lb
  • Top Quality Reel

Cons

  • Price may be high for some people

Daiwa Ballistic LT Product Review

Design/Specifications:

  • Reel Weight: 1lb
  • Size: 1000 – 6000
  • 7-Bearing System, 1-CRBB, 5-BB, and 1BB

The Daiwa Ballistic LT was built to be very light and extremely strong, and this comes through with the Ballistic LT’s construction.

The housing is an example of this, the heart of the reel is made from machined Aluminum Alloy DIGIGEAR, designed for strength and durability while also still allowing the reel to perform smoothly.

The main shaft benefits from Magseal, which prevents water and debris intrusion this into the shaft means that the shelf life of the reel is vastly extended, and should hold up to many fishing trips.

Magseal is magnetic oil a new generation of nanofluids that can change density and shape when a magnetic field is applied.

With the models ranging from 1000 to 6000 in size, the Dawai Ballistic LT is designed to tackle a large range of gamefish that will allow the angler to utilize a number of techniques.

The Daiwa Ballistic also features corrosion resistant ball bearings that are designed to last 12 times longer than normal.

This reel is built with the LT concept in mind, utilizing a smaller more compact, and lighter frame that has a larger DigiGear, which is the perfect combination of light and touch.

The larger DigiGear is a precision machine cut and polished that offers maximum efficiency which allows for a better transfer of energy and provides remarkable smoothness.

The Daiwa Ballistic also benefits greatly from the air rotor which is designed to be 15% lighter than ordinary rotor designs.

Thanks to the air rotors unique shape it reduces unnecessary weight and can distribute stress more evenly and providing maximum strength

Summary

So, what are my final thoughts on the Daiwa Ballistic LT?

The Daiwa Ballistic LT is a lightweight, versatile, and strong reel that has a long shelf-life thanks to the Magseal that prevents water and debris from entering the main shaft.

This reel is extremely versatile and designed for freshwater, inshore, and offshore fishing with a unique air rotor that allows for a lighter design and provides maximum strength by distributing stress more evenly.

I would definitely recommend this reel to any angler who is serious about catching fish.

I also like the fact that the reels come in multiple sizes allowing you to adjust to various spool sizes.
